The GPS-based tracking systems and various telematics solutions commonly seen in the market can indeed be helpful. They detect sudden drops in fuel levels and alert fleet managers. But by that point, it’s already too late: the fuel has been stolen, the vehicle may be damaged, and the thief has fled. Unfortunately, these systems only “detect” — they do not “prevent”. In other words, they offer reactive, not proactive, solutions.
